At first I wasn’t sure about the Pantone colours of 2016 since we’ve been using pastel pinks and blues for quite some time. I also thought it seemed a bit childish and boring, but once I started putting these colour boards together I started to see how the colours created a soft and tranquil mood, and an overall cool vibe together – beachy and tropical even (which you know I loOoOove). I can see how it would make for really great home decor accents or even your wedding colour palette for the upcoming season.
If you haven’t heard already there are TWO colours this season for the first time ever, Rose Quartz, a warm, light, cotton candy pink colour, and Serenity, a cool, pastel bluish/purple colour. I’ve noticed that they are the exact colours that you find in the most perfect cotton candy coloured sunsets, so with that in mind, I am fully on board 🙂
Pantone is saying there is a deeper meaning to their selections which is a reflection of societal changes, so I guess, yay! A quote taken from the Pantone website, [pullquote width=”550″ float=”left”]”This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer’s increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.”[/pullquote]
According to colour psychology [pullquote width=”550″ float=”left”]Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.”[/pullquote]
These colours can be a beautiful addition to your wedding decor plans, and together bring a dreamy, relaxing vibe. Subtle and airy, and perfect for Spring/Summer floral arrangements.
